La Jolla or the "The Jewel" as it is known was founded in 1887 and was initially an artists' colony. Today we have 15 neighborhoods to choose from in our residential community and La Jolla offers a diverse array of shops and restaurant life along with fine hotels such as La Valencia, The Grand Colonial Hotel Parisi and The Lodge at Torrey Pines to the north. Great restaurants such as Piatti, Barbarella, Sante, Tapenade, George's California Modern, Trattoria Acqua, Marine Room, Manhattan Room, Jack's, 9-10, Roppongi and The Sky Room. Incredible beaches: WindanSea Beach, La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores and Black's Beach. Great cultural and art life: La Jolla Playhouse, La Jolla Music Society, Museum of Contemporary Art, Athenaeum, Neurosciences Institute, and UCSD Art Gallery. Downtown Village living is very cosmopolitan and there is great shopping to be found on Girard Avenue and Prospect Street. La Jolla is home to many Nobel Laureates and our scientific community boasts of the Salk Institute, Burnham Institute, Scripps Research Institute, and UCSD campus with its Scripps Institution of Oceanography. There are two excellent hospitals in Scripps Green and Memorial in the La Jolla zip code. La Jolla is a special community as determined by the California Coastal Commission and we highly recommend living here.
Favourite neighborhoods include: Beach-Barber Tract, WindanSea, Bird Rock, Lower Hermosa, Upper Hermosa, Hillside-Country Club, Olde Muirlands, La Jolla Farms, Beach Club Terrace / La Jolla Shores and The Village. In La Jolla, walk to beach, walk to Village, and an unobstructable view are always a wise choice in selecting a home here.
